As You Go Through Life
by Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Don’t look for the flaws as you go through life;
And even when you find them,
It is wise and kind to be somewhat blind
And look for the virtue behind them.
For the cloudiest night has a hint of light
Somewhere in its shadows hiding;
It is better by far to hunt for a star,
Than the spots on the sun abiding.
The current of life runs ever away
To the bosom of God’s great ocean.
Don’t set your force ‘gainst the river’s course
And think to alter its motion.
Don’t waste a curse on the universe –
Remember it lived before you.
Don’t butt at the storm with your puny form,
But bend and let it go o’er you.
The world will never adjust itself
To suit your whims to the letter.
Some things must go wrong your whole life long,
And the sooner you know it the better.
It is folly to fight with the Infinite,
And go under at last in the wrestle;
The wiser man shapes into God’s plan
As water shapes into a vessel.
Life is an experience meant to be had – don’t fight it. Don’t waste time dissecting every aspect of it and end up overanalyzing life’s journey. Don’t be overly critical, for you will undoubtedly make mistakes – so, learn from them and move forward along the path you have chosen. And at the end of the day, try to relax and enjoy the ride.

Wise words! 🙂 Great poem!
Thanks Hun!!!!
Perfect words LeKeisha for me this week! Our trip to Florida started off w a tropical thunderstorm the first couple of days we were here, we lost power for a bit. I was so disappointed, I wanted this trip to be everything for Liss. Today the sun is out and shining, and Liss said to me mom this is the best trip because we r together. From the mouths of our daughters…..life is good and I am blessed.
I’m so glad you were able to connect with the words today!! I’m sorry to hear that your trip started off on such a rocky start, but the key is that even though there will undoubtedly be many bumps along the way, never forget that to be able to experience life is a blessing in and of itself.
Sometimes, you have to stop and find the silver lining. . .you are together with your daughter and this is a moment you will never get back. So, take heed of the old adage that shit happens and say “Well, that’s life, what can you do?” You can either spend your life waiting for the storm to pass or learn to dance in the rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
