Be An Overcomer

“I want to encourage you by letting you know that there’s hope for you and your situation whatever you are dealing with. God is intimately involved with every detail of your future and His desire is for you to be an overcomer.”

― Sue Augustine

Let go and let God. Trust that He is in control of weaving the tapestry of your life. And He sends no storm your way that you can’t conquer and emerge on the other side…perhaps battered but never defeated. So, when the night becomes long and cold, bundle up and hunker down until the Sun comes out again.

Courage

“Courage is not the absence of fear or despair; it is the capacity to continue on despite them, no matter how great or overwhelming they become.”

― Robert Fanney

Life is a beautiful tragedy. At times, it is full of pain, sorrow and utter devastation. However, in spite of your suffering and tears, you must find the inner strength to never give up and carry on.

Take Action

Do nothing, and nothing happens. Life is about decisions. You either make them or they’re made for you, but you can’t avoid them.”

― Mhairi McFarlane, You Had Me At Hello

Change doesn’t happen by sitting on the sidelines. No, progress happens when you engage in life, take action and make choices. So, if you want more out of life, then you have to actively go after it and fight like hell for it.

My Destination

“My destination is no longer a place, rather a new way of seeing.”

― Marcel Proust

Life is all about perspective. It isn’t about attaining goal X or making Y amount of money. Life is about learning what it means to be awake and to see the blessings surrounding you. It is about striving to be a better version of yourself each and every day.

Hope is Precious

“It’s probably my job to tell you life isn’t fair, but I figure you already know that. So instead, I’ll tell you that hope is precious, and you’re right not to give up.”

― C.J. Redwine, Defiance

Life isn’t fair and sometimes it really sucks. These are things we all have to accept. But, the key is to never give up no matter how bad things are…for it is at these moments that the tide will change. So, hold on for a little longer and hold on to hope that no matter how long the night, the dawn will break.

Make the Most of Life

“I believe that I am not responsible for the meaningfulness or meaninglessness of life, but that I am responsible for what I do with the life I’ve got.”

― Hermann Hesse

You and you alone decide the meaning of life. You can choose to squander and waste what time you have been given. Or, you can choose to take every opportunity- good and bad – and make the most of every breath you take. The choice is yours…

Balance

“You see, we cannot draw lines and compartments and refuse to budge beyond them. Sometimes you have to use your failures as stepping-stones to success. You have to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair.’ He paused, considering what he had just said. ‘Yes’, he repeated. ‘In the end, it’s all a question of balance.”

― Rohinton Mistry, A Fine Balance

Life is a balancing act between highs and lows and good and bad. You can’t have one without the other. And all of it has meaning and serves a purpose. What you may perceive as a setback or failure is really an opportunity to grow and open yourself up for the good that life has to offer.

Hold On

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.”

― Mahatma Gandhi

Today, it feels like the world has been enshrouded by a kind of darkness that destroys all it touches. It feels like the battle between good and evil has been lost. Hate has consumed love. But during these times of great despair, we must find the strength to press on and never forget that throughout history hate may have won many battles but love has always pulled through to win the war. So, hold on…for brighter days are to come.

When All Hope Is Lost

“I felt as if I were riding a pendulum. Just as I would swing into the abyss of hopelessness, the pendulum would swing back with some small goodness.”

― Ruta Sepetys

Life can be utterly devastating at times. Some days it feels like you are trapped outside in a raging storm with no end in sight. In one moment, everything you believed in can be destroyed and you’re left feeling empty and hollow with your heart bleeding out on the ground. Hope feels like one of those childhood fairy tale stories made up to help kids sleep at night. But, it is at these times when everything has fallen apart that you must hold on to the belief that life is like a pendulum. And even though life has swung into an abyss of hopelessness for many of us, we must believe that one day it will swing back with some small goodness.

The Lows & Highs

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”

― Anne Bradstreet

In order to appreciate the highs, you must experience the lows. Likewise, you can’t have joy without having experienced sorrow. Or, happiness without sadness. It all goes hand in hand. So, although you may be experiencing emotional turmoil and hard times, it is preparing you for the cleansing showers of Spring yet to come.
