Follow Your Vision

“Don’t be discouraged if people don’t see your vision, your harvest. All they see from their perspective is that you’re watering a whole lot of dirt. They don’t SEE what seeds you’ve been planting with blood, sweat, tears and lack of sleep. Make sure you don’t abandon or neglect it because “they” don’t see it. You have to KNOW and believe for yourself. They don’t see the roots and what’s budding under the dirt. But it’s okay, because it’s NOT meant for them to see it. While you wait, MASTER it. You continue to do YOUR work and have unwavering faith! Remember why you started planting in the first place. Your harvest WILL come!”

― Yvonne Pierre, The Day My Soul Cried: A Memoir

Remember to always follow your path and chase your dreams. No two paths are the same, and you must have faith and conviction that you are going in the right direction. Don’t let others lack of vision detour or sidetrack you from continuing along the road that you, and you alone, are meant to travel. Be your own support and follow your own compass.

Be Bold

“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.”

― Mandy Hale, The Single Woman: Life, Love, and a Dash of Sass

Live life on your own terms. Don’t let society or other people dictate the course of your life. Be bold, take chances, don’t apologize, dance to the beat of your own song, be fierce, and be free. You get but one life, so choose to live it.

Face Life

“Anyone can hide. Facing up to things, working through them, that’s what makes you strong.”

― Sarah Dessen

When things get hard, don’t run away and hide. Instead, stand up tall and deal with it. No matter how difficult or painful, commit yourself to working through whatever curveball life throws at you. For how you deal with these situations ultimately shapes who you are as a person.

Be Your Own Narrator

“There is no list of rules. There is one rule. The rule is: there are no rules. Happiness comes from living as you need to, as you want to. As your inner voice tells you to. Happiness comes from being who you actually are instead of who you think you are supposed to be. Being traditional is not traditional anymore. It’s funny that we still think of it that way. Normalize your lives, people. You don’t want a baby? Don’t have one. I don’t want to get married? I won’t. You want to live alone? Enjoy it. You want to love someone? Love someone. Don’t apologize. Don’t explain. Don’t ever feel less than. When you feel the need to apologize or explain who you are, it means the voice in your head is telling you the wrong story. Wipe the slate clean. And rewrite it. No fairy tales. Be your own narrator. And go for a happy ending. One foot in front of the other. You will make it.”

― Shonda Rhimes

At the end of the day, if there is one lesson you carry with you throughout life, it is this: Be Your Own Person. Don’t live your life trying to meet other people’s expectations for you. Dare to live your truth and never apologize or feel the need to explain yourself to anyone.

Be You

“Never try to do anything that is outside of who you are. A forced smile is a sign of what feels wrong in your heart, so recognize it when it happens. Living a lie will reduce you to one.”

― Ashly Lorenzana

Be confident in who you are, and never let anyone or anything force you to compromise your values. This is often the hardest lesson of life but is the key to living a life full of happiness and integrity. For if there is one rule to govern your life by, it would simply be to live your truth each and every day.

Push Yourself

“Push yourself to do more and to experience more. Harness your energy to start expanding your dreams. Yes, expand your dreams. Don’t accept a life of mediocrity when you hold such infinite potential within the fortress of your mind. Dare to tap into your greatness.”

― Robin S. Sharma

Within each person is the potential for greatness…the potential to do good things. You must only believe in yourself and allow yourself to dream without limits. Free your mind and you will free your soul from the chains restraining you from reaching for the stars.

Destiny

“You can’t hang around waiting for somebody else to pull your strings. Destiny’s what you make of it. You have to face whatever life throws at you. And if it throws more than you’d like, more than you think you can handle? Well then you just have to find the heroism within yourself and play out the hand you’ve been dealt. The universe never sets a challenge that can’t be met. You just need to believe in yourself in order to find the strength to face it.”

― Darren Shan

No one else can fight your battles for you. And in life, you will be dealt many hands that you and only you must play. Sometimes it’s a crappy hand, but you must not be defeated and must always keep pushing on. So, no matter what life may throw at you, never give in and keep fighting until you take your last breath.

The Crazy Ones

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

― Rob Siltanen

The world and the people in it will constantly try to change you.  They will try to force you to live in the box that is considered “okay” and “normal.”  But in spite of this, you must not give in.  If you have a dream, then go after it no matter what anyone says and no matter if someone says it is impossible.  One person can change the world, but you must first be brave enough to step away from what is familiar and comfortable.  Don’t be afraid to march alone into the unknown and down the untrodden paths.

Never Say “I Can’t”

“Never say ‘I can’t.’ ‘I can’t’ is a limit, and life is about breaking through limits. Say ‘I will’ instead.”

― Heather Vogel Frederick

The only person who has the power to place limits on your life is you. It is so easy to sell yourself short and tell yourself that you can’t do something or that the odds of success are so low so why bother. But it is these negative, self-defeating thoughts that prevent you from breaking through barriers. So instead choose to believe that anything is possible and you never know how high you can climb until you try.

Believe in Yourself

“No matter how many people believe or don’t believe in you, you must be the ultimate believer in yourself!”

― Pablo

It’s great to have support throughout life, but don’t be dependent on it. Learn to be your own biggest cheerleader, because there will be times when you must walk alone. At these times, you must find the courage and strength within yourself to continue along your path no matter how rough the terrain.
