Focus on the Solution

“Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.”

–  Denis Waitley

Focusing on every mistake and bad event in your life will not make things better or fix the problem; rather, it will keep you stuck in the past and in the same situation.  To truly move forward, you must focus instead on the next steps and what can realistically be done to get through your situation.  Never forget that life is all about forward trajectory and motion, so don’t let life’s everyday problems derail you.

Do It for You

“There IS a better future for you! Get rid of that negative and defeated attitude. Stop tearing yourself down and learn to build yourself up. Speak positively about yourself. If you’re not satisfied with who you are and where you’re at in your life, have the courage to make a change and be a person that you can be proud of. Change can be scary, but change for the better is very rewarding in the end. You can do it! Do it for YOU.”

― Stephanie Lahart

Do it for you. You and you alone are in charge of the person you become and the future you create. And at any moment, you can make the decision to change the path you’re on if you’re unhappy. There is no one stopping you from living the life you crave except for you. So, choose to greet each day with a positive attitude and with the courage to live your truth.

Face Life

“Anyone can hide. Facing up to things, working through them, that’s what makes you strong.”

― Sarah Dessen

When things get hard, don’t run away and hide. Instead, stand up tall and deal with it. No matter how difficult or painful, commit yourself to working through whatever curveball life throws at you. For how you deal with these situations ultimately shapes who you are as a person.

Let Go

“When people walk away from you, let them go. Your destiny is never tied to anyone who leaves you, and it doesn’t mean they are bad people. It just means that their part in your story is over.”

― Tony McCollum

One of the more painful lessons of life is that some people were only meant to be in our life for a season. Often, people are brought into our life to help us through a difficult time or we are meant to help them. For life is like a continuous train ride where many people get on and off…some for one stop and others don’t get off for a few stops. The key is to learn that it’s okay to let go and watch people get off the train because they are no longer meant to be a part of your journey.

No Regrets

“I don’t do regrets. Regrets are pointless. It’s too late for regrets. You’ve already done it, haven’t you? You’ve lived your life. No point wishing you could change it.”

― Lemmy Kilmister

What’s done is done. There’s no point in wasting energy regretting things that are in your past and can’t be changed. It does no one any good, least of all you. So, instead focus on creating a future that you are proud of and make better choices going forward.

Stop Running

“Everyone is in such a hurry. People haven’t found meaning in their lives, so they’re running all the time looking for it. They think the next car, the next house, the next job. Then they find those things are empty, too, and they keep running. Once you start running, it’s hard to slow yourself down.”

― Mitch Albom

We all have the tendency to rush through life and search externally for happiness. We’re guilty of thinking that by changing our circumstances, it’ll fill the emptiness inside of us…that it’ll fix the brokenness within you. But sadly, this is not the case, for happiness and peace comes from within. So, stop running and face the person in the mirror.

Push Yourself

“Push yourself to do more and to experience more. Harness your energy to start expanding your dreams. Yes, expand your dreams. Don’t accept a life of mediocrity when you hold such infinite potential within the fortress of your mind. Dare to tap into your greatness.”

― Robin S. Sharma

Within each person is the potential for greatness…the potential to do good things. You must only believe in yourself and allow yourself to dream without limits. Free your mind and you will free your soul from the chains restraining you from reaching for the stars.

The Crazy Ones

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

― Rob Siltanen

The world and the people in it will constantly try to change you.  They will try to force you to live in the box that is considered “okay” and “normal.”  But in spite of this, you must not give in.  If you have a dream, then go after it no matter what anyone says and no matter if someone says it is impossible.  One person can change the world, but you must first be brave enough to step away from what is familiar and comfortable.  Don’t be afraid to march alone into the unknown and down the untrodden paths.

Don’t Hold Back

“Stop trying to be less of who you are. Let this time in your life cut you open and drain all of the things that are holding you back.”

― Jennifer Elisabeth

Don’t hold back. Embrace all that you are and let your own unique light shine as bright as the most luminous star. This means you must let go of whatever chains are restraining you from breaking free, whether that be your past, toxic relationships, a job, whatever. You get but one chance at life, so put the pedal to the medal and go full throttle.

Ride the Waves

“There are two kinds of people,’ she’d said. ‘Those who coast through life like ducks in a row, following one after the other, and those who ride the waves.’” Tears spilled down my cheeks, and my voice cracked. “‘Ride the waves, baby, and live. Live.”

― Gena Showalter

Life isn’t about playing it safe. It’s not about doing what is expected of you or of conforming to what society dictates. It’s about figuring out what your path is and following it. It’s about learning what your truth is and living it.
