Create Your Masterpiece

“Life’s kind of like a painting. A really bizarre, abstract painting. You could look at it and think that all it is, is a blur. And you could continue living your life thinking that all it is, is just a blur. But if you really look at it, really see it, focus on it, and use your imagination, life can become so much more. The painting could be of the sea, the sky, people, buildings, a butterfly on a flower, or anything except the blur you were once convinced it was.”

― Cecelia Ahern

Life is all about the lens you choose to view it from. One of my favorite phrases because it rings so true and deserves to be repeated many times. Life, your life, is a blank canvas waiting for you to create a masterpiece. The potential and tools are all there at your disposal and you have but to pick up the brush and start creating.

Today is a New Day

“Although time seems to fly, it never travels faster than one day at a time. Each day is a new opportunity to live your life to the fullest. In each waking day, you will find scores of blessings and opportunities for positive change. Do not let your TODAY be stolen by the unchangeable past or the indefinite future! Today is a new day!”

― Steve Maraboli

Live in the present. For the past is done and the future has yet to happen. So, focus your energy on living each day to the fullest. Greet each day with an open mind and open heart ready to experience every blessing. Use each day to be a better version of yourself. Never forget, today is a new day.

Don’t Hold Back

“Stop trying to be less of who you are. Let this time in your life cut you open and drain all of the things that are holding you back.”

― Jennifer Elisabeth

Don’t hold back. Embrace all that you are and let your own unique light shine as bright as the most luminous star. This means you must let go of whatever chains are restraining you from breaking free, whether that be your past, toxic relationships, a job, whatever. You get but one chance at life, so put the pedal to the medal and go full throttle.

Learn to Deal

“Happiness is not the absence of problems; it’s the ability to deal with them.”

― Steve Maraboli

Getting through life and being able to experience its joy is all about learning how to deal with life’s many ups and downs. No one has a life free of problems and struggles…no, it’s just that some learn how to better roll with the punches.

Dance in the Rain

“When it rains it pours. Maybe the art of life is to convert tough times to great experiences: we can choose to hate the rain or dance in it.”

― Joan F. Marques

Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; rather, it’s learning to find joy even in tough times. For you may find yourself missing out on life by trying to wait for clear skies that may never come. So, no matter what you are going through, try to find something to smile about.

Just Do You

“You can’t control what others think. The only thing you can control is yourself. Some people will look down on you for your choices in life, no matter what they are. You can’t do anything about that. The only thing you can do is decide how to live your own life. And to hell with everybody else”

― Marie Sexton

Just do you. Stop living your life trying to please everyone else and start living your life for you. There will always be naysayers around, but you must learn to tune out every voice except yours. For at the end of the day, this is your life. So take the wheel and drive like a bat out of hell.

Unedited

“But life isn’t something that should be edited. Life shouldn’t be cut. The only way you’ll ever discover what it truly means to be alive and human is by sharing the full experience of what it means to be human and each blemish and freckle that comes with it.”

― Iain Thomas

Life is meant to be perfectly imperfect. There is no filter or edited version of life. To truly live means to fall in the mud and scrape your knees on the pavement. It’s about each and every scar you earn. For every blemish represents an important page in the story of your life.

Change Course

“Change course, but don’t give up.”

― Roy T. Bennett

At some point in your life, you will inevitably run into a dead end along your path. But the key is, you must not let this discourage you from continuing on. When you reach a point where you can’t travel any further, turn around and try a different trail. Look at it like, “Oh well, I tried but it didn’t work out. So, let’s try something else and take a different approach.” Just don’t give up.

Take the Risk

“Life should be a risk. It’s more than a straight line that you can see clearly from one point to the other. It dips and curves and you never know what’s around the bend sometimes until you get there. That scares a lot of people. But that’s the beauty of it.”

― Katie Kacvinsky, Awaken

Life is all about the unknown. It’s about not knowing what is lurking around the corner and having to deal with any curveball life may throw at you. It isn’t about having all the answers or having a cheat sheet. Instead, you must grab the reins of life, hold on tight, for it is meant to be a bumpy ride!

Where To Look

“What looks like garbage from one angle might be art from another. Maybe it did take a crisis to get to know yourself; maybe you needed to get whacked hard by life before you understood what you wanted out of it.”

― Jodi Picoult

I’ve said it countless times. Life is all about the lens you choose to view it from. You can choose to only see the bad in every circumstance or you can choose to see the good. Whenever a negative situation happens, try to stop and say, “ok, what is the takeaway from this situation? Where is the silver lining?” Search for something good in every situation…for every bump and mountain we encounter in life defines our very essence.
